Snake’s first objective is to meet with a former NSA code breaker
In a highly anticipated action-thriller, ‘Naked Snake’ follows an NSA code breaker who is a defector. In this movie, the US has devised a plan to retrieve the former Soviet code breaker Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, who is under pressure to complete a nuclear superweapon for the USSR. The CIA has dispatched a lone FOX operative, code-named ‘Naked Snake,’ to infiltrate enemy territory and escort Sokolov across the Iron Curtain without leaving a trace.
Following the success of the ‘Big Shell’ operation, Snake returns to Groznyj Grad to destroy Shagohod. There, he meets up with Volgin, who has exposed Snake as a spy and a member of the Philosophers, a secret organization consisting of the top-ranking figures in the USSR, Soviet Union, and China. This organization amassed $100 billion and had it split among banks around the world. Unfortunately, Volgin had illegally inherited this “Legacy,” and is now trying to recover it.
Snake’s disguise is pulled off by Volgin
During the Virtuous Mission, Snake is ordered to not be caught. Major Zero warns him that leaving evidence of the conflict is not as important as he might think, but it is essential for the Russian government to understand what Snake is up to. So Snake should continue to shoot at the enemies until they are dead, and if they are caught, he should shoot them all.
While the other bosses have plausible explanations for their abilities, Snake is still a mysterious figure. He is part of a fringe group in the Soviet military, and is not even aware of his promotion. Volgin is also a member of the Communist Party. This means that his insignia may be different from his own. He could use a different style than Snake’s to cover his identity.

Snake escapes from Groznyj Grad
The Russian name for “groznyj grad” is a reference to the fortress and city in Tselinoyarsk, USSR, which is home to the Soviet Union’s largest nuclear arsenal. Yevgeny Borisovitch Volgin built Groznyj Grad during the Cold War as his mountain stronghold. The fortress eventually fell into disrepair and was abandoned by its commander, Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, who was forced to complete the nuclear-armed Shagohod.
Eventually, Snake and EVA escape to the central hangar, where Volgin is being held. They find Volgin, who possesses the C3 explosives, and lure him to a railway bridge where they battle. Snake and the EVA escape after they evade GRU soldiers riding motorcycles. Volgin, meanwhile, escape by killing two of the Cobra Unit members.
Snake is a snake eater in Tselinoyarsk
In Metal Gear Solid 3: The Revolution, Snake reveals that he is the same man who harmed his friend and co-worker, Sokolov. He also reveals that Sokolov was a Volgin employee. The CIA has been tracking Sokolov since the Revolution. In fact, he was even more vigilant this time. In the game, Snake disguises himself as a scientist to gain entry to a highly secured fortress.
Snake’s most memorable mission to save Tatyana involved his spies. When he first arrived in Tselinoyarsk, he found Volgin’s wife, EVA. She was posing as Sokolov’s lover in order to snoop around, but Volgin had other plans. He snuck out and stabbed her and then threw her onto the ground. Fortunately, Volgin was able to spot the spy and save his family.
