These species of spider are very active creatures who form social hierarchies through vocalizations and body language. When living together in groups, it’s best that all members be of similar size to avoid bullying from within the group.

Crested Gecko Diet

Crested geckos thrive when provided with a variety of food, which is why many keepers supplement their diet with fresh feeder insects such as crickets, dubia roaches and hornworms – these live prey items provide enrichment while stimulating an uninterested crested gecko’s appetite and stimulating it when refusing food or acting lethargic.

Cresteed geckos in the wild consume over 50% of their diet as insects, particularly crickets and locusts; other prey items include berries, fruits and vegetables. When feeding insects to crested geckos it’s important to make sure that they receive sufficient nutrition by gut-loading or adding nutritional powder beforehand in order to ensure adequate nutrient absorption.

Crestie owners typically offer commercial crested gecko diets (CGD) alongside other foods for younger and breeding females, particularly Pangea Breeder formula and Replashy Banana Cream Pie diets.

Insects

Mourning geckos make an engaging pet. Day/night active species that flourish in an ideal environment, they feed on both fruit and insects in nature while breeding parthenogenetically (without males), making breeding easier than ever!

Feeder insects such as flightless fruit flies, pinhead crickets and dubia nymphs make for excellent foods for Lepidodactylus lugubris lizards. Cresteed gecko diet mix should also be offered regularly as staple food; always offer food that fits appropriately to its size – always provide foods sized appropriately for Lepidodactylus lugubris; all feeder insects must first be gut loaded with mineral/vitamin supplements such as Zilla cricket drink or crested gecko diet powder before offering to their lizard friends.

Mourning geckos are highly social creatures and thrive when kept together in groups. As social animals, mourning geckos communicate with each other using sounds such as chirping and squeaking to communicate. Their social interactions are quite remarkable to observe! These animals do not respond well to being held directly and instead prefer being observed and interacted with through observation rather than physical handling.

Calcium Powder

Mourning geckos are parthenogenic species, meaning that they reproduce by laying eggs that clone their mother. According to local peoples who observed these geckos at nighttime vocalizations and assumed they were mourning lost male partners, mourning geckos are believed to have received their name due to this process of reproduction.

Mourning Geckos are active both day and night, making them adept climbers with special toe pads designed to scale smooth vertical surfaces as well as cross indoor ceilings. When threatened, these geckos may retreat into crevices or beneath surfaces; but are more likely to flee rapidly and drop their tail than attempt hiding themselves away in crevices or subsurface spaces.

Pangea’s Crested Gecko Diet (CGD), in conjunction with flightless fruit flies, pinhead crickets, dubia roach nymphs, black soldier fly larvae and mashed fruit is recommended as an ideal diet. All insects should be gut-loaded and dusted with high quality vitamin supplements prior to feeding; ideal feeding times would include CGD two out of seven days while protein-based feeders three days out of the week.

Fruit

Mourning geckos are an exceptional species within the reptile community. Not only are they cathemeral and active both day and night, they are omnivorous feeders who reproduce by parthenogenesis (asexual reproduction without fertilization) – among many other characteristics which make them enjoyable pets to keep!

As with crested geckos, mourning geckos require a balanced diet consisting of both plant-based and protein-rich foods. As such, they should be fed a combination of commercial fruit mixes, mashed fruits and nectar-based nectar food; in addition to this they should receive feeder insects which have an appropriate ratio between calcium-to-phosphorus ratios such as pinhead crickets, dubia roach nymphs or flightless fruit flies (ie dubia roach nymphs/fruitflies etc).

Mourning geckos commonly lay their eggs either on the sides of their tank, on any decorations like cork bark or any other surface glued securely in place, such as cork bark. When their eggs hatch you should transfer them immediately into another container for safe keeping as adults may consume them and destroy the future crop of eggs.
