Healthy nutrition
Bee pollen (also referred to as perga or ambrosia) has long been used as food, supplement and (folk) medicine for thousands of years. Packed full of proteins, vitamins and minerals, its antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiatherosclerotic properties help prevent degenerative diseases like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular disease while speeding healing after burns wounds or surgical incisions. Plus its high concentration of polyphenols and omega-3-9 fatty acids help combat free radicals responsible for oxidative stress!
Through its transformation from pollen into perga, proteins are broken down into amino acids for easier absorption by the body. Fermentation and partial digestion processes also remove cellulose and starch content while making minerals, vitamins, and proteins more bioavailable – creating food that is both highly nutritious and easy to digest. The result? A food which provides both essential nutrition and easy digestion!
Easy intake and utilization
Ambrosia is a sweet syrup containing sugar crystals suspended in various types of dissolved sugar that bees can readily consume. The low moisture content reduces their energy expenditure in inverting it, protecting their energy balance in turn.
Ambrosia’s nutritional value is greatly enhanced by its lipid constituent profile and selection of trace elements, which stimulate and support digestive tract health [113, 114]. Furthermore, ambrosia enhances bee performance * while supporting resilience and vitality **.
This ready-made, complementary feed is specifically formulated to meet the nutritive requirements of bees. It helps colonies withstand winter food shortages while simultaneously helping them rapidly build, breed, and raise brood during spring. Ideal for any climate; especially fast-growing colonies or building nucleus colonies and queen breeding operations as well as frame feeders.
Easy to store
Winter and early spring necessitate providing beehives with easy-to-store and transport feedings when honey stores become depleted, such as ambrosia bee feed fondant. This food consists of microfine sugar crystals encased by a sugar syrup film to prevent crystal crusting over and make ingestion easier for bees.
This ready-to-use food features an ideal blend of fructose, glucose and sucrose sugars as well as fine beet sugar as its base. The high concentration makes this product resistant to microbiological spoilage while its optimal composition enables bees to maximize use of its nutrients.
Easy to transport
Ambrosia bee feed syrup is closely aligned to natural honeybee food in its composition. Made up of fructose, glucose and sucrose at very high concentrations – less susceptible to microbiological degradation while the high fructose content prevents crystallisation – Ambrosia’s bee feed syrup has all of the qualities that honeybees need for proper sustenance.
Light and liquid, it is easily transported. Feed can be fed directly from the package or poured on to a hive to save both time and labor, as no feed gets spilled around your apiary, thus decreasing risk of robbing significantly.
Importantly, thymolated syrups don’t ferment (unlike Imperial 2:1), enabling bees to start their winter preparation more quickly while serving as an effective deterrent against nosema.
