Fig & Insects

The fig wasp is an integral component of fig trees’ mutualistic relationship with pollinating wasps; each time you enjoy a piece of fruit from a fig tree contains dead wasps from pollination! You might not realize it, but there could be one (or several!) lurking inside your fruity treat!

To produce a fig, female wasps must burrow into nonedible male flowers of fig plants (often without losing her wings and antennae), lay eggs inside, then die. Any remaining males mate with female flowers of the same species to carry pollen to other fig plants in its species – thus continuing the cycle.

This fig-infused formula is ideal for pangea geckos such as mossy prehensile-tailed geckos and New Caledonian giant geckos as well as gargoyle geckos (Rhacodactylus chahoua). Unlike Pangea’s other formulations, this one does not contain banana products and therefore ideal for those with dietary restrictions. This food also includes crickets and black soldier fly larvae which provide twice the protein as our standard “Gecko Food with Insects.” Feed daily or as directed on packaging.
