Tortoises are herbivorous animals that will occasionally consume fungi, flowers and fruit as food sources. Their diet should consist of leafy greens, vegetables and fruit to provide variety for them to digest.
Animals in need can be fed carrots, winter squash, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and tomatoes along with various dark leafy green vegetables such as collard greens, turnip greens, dandelion leaves escarole or romaine lettuce as well as fruits or low-fat animal protein sources such as berries.

Males in the wild use a series of head jerks and body movements to communicate with females during breeding season, trailing her as they touch her carapace and sniff at her cloaca before mounting her and making clucking noises; successful mounts usually result in two hatchlings being born after about 150 days of incubation in leaf litter nests excavated by females.
Grapes
