Mazuri turtle diet is an exceptional food option to ensure the wellbeing of freshwater turtles like painted and red-eared varieties, including painted and red-eared varieties. As it’s designed specifically for fresh water turtles (including painted and red-eared variants), its floating pellet diet encourages them to come to the surface and be fed; plus it is nutritionally complete so no additional vitamins or mineral supplements are necessary!
As opposed to many commercial turtle foods, this one is free from artificial colors and flavors and high in fiber and vitamins/minerals, with low sodium levels which makes it especially helpful for pets with diabetes or hypertension.
Ideally, it is advisable to feed your pet turtle a variety of foods so as to provide all the nutrients they require. For instance, some turtles require high amounts of vitamin A so when feeding your turtle include some foods rich in this nutrient such as squash, carrots, bell peppers or any orange or yellow veggies such as squash.
Quality
Hikari wheat germ pellets are popular choices among turtles; they contain large amounts of Vitamin D3 and E for optimal health in herbivorous turtles, though they should not serve as the sole diet source for reptiles. Furthermore, Hikari’s pellets use some artificial colors which may make some turtles shy away from eating them altogether.
Mazuri Aquatic Turtle Diet provides complete nutrition to most freshwater turtles, such as Painted and Red-Eared Sliders. Packed full of fish and animal proteins without artificial colors or flavors and featuring yucca to reduce ammonia odors in aquarium environments, this diet meets most freshwater turtle species’ dietary requirements.
Many pet turtles are omnivorous, though as they age some species become increasingly carnivorous. As such, more turtles depend on products like Reptomin or other animal-based food sources that can be stored dry without freezing and are easily available – however these may not contain as many essential vitamins found in plant foods.

ZooMed designed their line of food with the average turtle keeper in mind when designing this line of floating pellets to feed turtles in freshwater environments. These floating pellets should be scattered into the water and encouraged turtles to come up to the surface for feedings, providing ample fish & animal protein that meets most carnivorous freshwater species’ nutritional requirements.
One 2.2lb bag of these pellets should last most freshwater and pond turtle species two to three months when fed as instructed, such as once every other day or every third day. They’re an excellent option for Map, Mata Mata & Painted Turtles as well as Red-Eared Sliders.
These pellets have been specifically formulated to offer a balanced diet of proteins, vegetables and fruits along with extra nutrition from vitamin D and E – they offer an ideal alternative to mealworms which have 15 times more phosphorous than calcium content and could potentially blockage their G.I tract (See Encyclopaedia of Terrarium page 49).
