One of the main issues for bird enthusiasts is waste and mess caused when birds leave behind seeds on or below feeders, where they then sprout into weeds which attract rats and other vermin.
Our No Mess Mix is an husk free blend consisting of sunflower hearts, peanut granules, pinhead oats and cut maize. Additionally, this mix has been de-hulled, cut and heat treated to prevent unwanted seeds from germinating in your garden.

No husks to leave a mess
Bird husks often sprout into unwanted weeds when left behind by birds, making it harder for customers to maintain clean feeding areas. Our no mess seed mix eliminates all chance of replanting, making it simpler and cleaner to keep feeding areas weed-free and tidy. Plus, heat treated wheat ensures no germination takes place, ideal for customers wanting to preserve the integrity of their garden!
No mess seeds offer the added advantage of being 100% edible, enabling more birds to access them and reducing discarded shells and husks that attract rats or vermin.
Use of suitable feeders, refraining from overfilling them and regularly cleaning feeders and food trays can reduce rotting seed waste, maintain a healthier feeding area for birds as well as attract them back into your yard. It is all of these elements combined which contribute to drawing in many different bird species to your backyard.
No wasted seeds
Seeds exposed to moist conditions germinate more readily; however, most bird feeder blends contain seeds with hard shells that don’t germinate, creating an unsightly mess and often leading to the sprouting of weeds under your feeder.
This mix has been specially formulated to solve that problem by de-husking sunflower hearts and peanuts in the mix – leaving behind an attractive blend that attracts birds year-round!
You won’t find any wasted seeds like safflower or niger in this mix; such seeds require shells in order to germinate properly, while milo may attract pest birds such as starlings and pigeons as well as squirrels which is neither desirable nor necessary at your feeders. Furthermore, these high fat-content seeds could potentially lead to birds burning off thousands of calories while staying warm in winter!
No weeds to sprout
No doubt feeding birds is a worthy act, but their droppings may turn into invasive plants if left lying around. A study published last year in Invasive Plant Science and Management discovered that most bird seed mixes contain seeds for unwanted weeds.
To avoid this situation, select seed mixtures containing hulled sunflower hearts and nut pieces as they cannot sprout due to being split or hulled. Other seeds that won’t sprout include chopped corn, nyjer seeds (preferred by goldfinches) and cracked sunflower chips – the latter may even be heat treated prior to shipping for additional reduction in their ability to germinate.
Avoid seed mixes containing too many filler seeds like milo and millet that add bulk at lower costs but are unattractive to wild birds. Instead, opt for mixes that include only those seeds you want to attract; this will reduce weed formation near feeders.
Attracts a variety of birds
This seed mix not only reduces mess and waste, but it contains premium ingredients to attract a wide range of birds. These include large black oil sunflower seeds to attract larger-beaked birds like cardinals; as well as safflower – preferred by many songbirds; sunflower chips and peanuts as well as kibbled peanuts and suet pellets which provide essential fats for long periods of perching birds at feeders.
This mix is suitable for hopper, gazebo or tube feeders and attracts wild songbirds such as indigo buntings, chickadees, pine siskins and finches throughout the year. De-hulled, cut and heat treated seeds ensure no mess from husks and no sprouting seedlings from dropped seeds; made with high quality grains and seeds packaged in an attractive bag making this 100% organic and chemical free!
