Archaeological, iconographic, and literary evidence suggests that watermelons were first domesticated in northeastern Africa around 2000 BCE and began making appearances in Mediterranean lands by no later than 300 BCE. Watson disregarded Hebrew language evidence and claimed they were colocynths instead despite evidence indicating they are more likely cultivars from modern watermelons cultivars with seeds >10mm long than colocynth seeds.
Apricot
Prunus armeniaca, commonly known as an apricot, belongs to the plum family and is an irresistibly delicious fruit with sweet, juicy flesh, edible seeds, and an oval stone. Packed full of essential vitamins and minerals as well as being high in dietary fiber content and phytochemicals – they make for an excellent natural source of vitamins and antioxidants!
Pangea Complete Gecko Diet Apricot is an ideal diet choice for crested, gargoyle, New Caledonian giant geckos (Rhacodactylus leachianus), mossy prehensile-tailed geckos (Mniarogekko chahoua), and day geckos of all species and life stages. Formulated to deliver maximum flavor while meeting ideal calcium and other key nutritional levels – making this low oxalate formula ideal.
Thicken your mix to achieve desired consistency by adding water. As this breeder formula can be fed alone or used alongside live, dusted, gutloaded insects for optimal health, the added protein helps geckos reach a full nutritional profile.
Fig & Insects
Since time immemorial, fig trees and tiny wasps have existed in an obligate nursery pollination mutualism for millennia. “Fig trees are one of the few plants that have evolved to require pollinators,” according to ecologist Mike Shanahan. A female Agaonidae fig wasp pushes her wings through small openings into nonedible male flowers to lay eggs and collect pollen – she can’t escape her tasks but that doesn’t bother her – she knows they are doing their jobs well enough.
Larvae then devour the wasp, before laying their own eggs that are carried off by female wasps to pollinate other fig flowers around the world – an amazing feat requiring approximately 900 species of fig wasps!
Pangea’s Fig & Insects Gecko Treat is specifically tailored to serve as the high fruit portion of crested gecko diets in conjunction with live, dusted crickets or black soldier fly larvae. Made with an irresistibly fruity blend that your geckos will devour, and free from protein supplements such as seeds, nuts, cereal grains or low oxalate veggies that often contain high levels of phytates – your gecko will devour this treat in no time!
