Crested geckos require a balanced diet to avoid developing health conditions like FTS or MBD.
There are several freeze-dried powders designed to provide complete food for crested gecko species, with Pangea and Repashy among the leading brands. Meal replacement powders must be mixed with water before feeding to your crestedie.

Watermelon Complete Diet
Watermelons have long been one of the go-to diets for crested geckos, with this new one now becoming one of our best sellers since 2013. Perfect for gargoyle geckos (Rhacodactylus auriculatus), New Caledonia giant geckos (Rhacodactylus leachianus), and mossy prehensile-tailed (Mniarogekko chahoua), as well as day geckos and more.
Watermelons are packed with nutrition. Vitamin C helps strengthen immune systems and fight germs; citrulline converts to nitric oxide in your body to improve blood flow and help recover faster from strenuous workouts.
Watermelon is an excellent source of lycopene, an antioxidant known to combat heart disease and cancer. Studies suggest its consumption may also lower prostate cancer risks in men. Other reasons to enjoy this juicy fruit: its low calorie count, abundant potassium content and plentiful fiber. Plus, watermelons boast plenty of vitamin A to support good vision health!
Papaya Complete Diet
Banana Papaya was previously known as Banana Papaya and is an essential food source for crested gecko populations. Crafted using over 50% real banana and papaya fruit with no seeds, nuts or seed meal; protein comes from both whey isolate and egg whites for maximum longevity and survival.
This diet features very low levels of antinutrients like oxalates and phytates. Formulated using all-natural USA dried fruits, whey protein isolate, bee pollen, algaes and probiotics – this diet has everything needed for good health!
Papain is a digestive enzyme found in papaya leaves and papaya fruit that assists with digesting food while simultaneously relieving inflammation and strengthening immunity. Furthermore, papain serves as a rich source of Vitamin C, antioxidants and other vital minerals.
Vitamin-C is an essential nutrient, serving to neutralize free radicals, promote collagen synthesis, and guard against oxidative cell damage. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in immune health as well as eye care by protecting against macular degeneration. Furthermore, vitamin-C provides protein, folic acid, vitamin A, high fiber intake and potency levels – making it one of the essential dietary staples.
Growth & Breeding Complete Diet with Insects
Pangea provides several industry leading crested gecko diets with popular fruit flavors that attract captive-bred geckos, such as their Growth & Breeding Complete Diet with Insects that contains powdered and dried fruits such as banana, papaya, watermelons, mangos and figs for increased palatability for fruit-eating crested geckos with positive feeding reactions. These formulas boast highly favorable feeding responses from frugivorous crested geckos!
These diets contain insect meal and Black Soldier Fly Larvae as protein sources to simulate what crested geckos from New Caledonia would find in their wild environment such as insects like flies, larvae, crickets and moths. This formula makes a fantastic breeder diet which can also be fed to juveniles.
As this diet may be sticky for some geckos, I recommend mixing it until it has the consistency of ketchup. For optimal results, add plain form calcium (without D3) directly into the mix or provide a dish of pure calcium for females to access directly as they need.
Fig Complete Diet
Crested geckos in the wild are omnivorous eaters, eating both insects and plants for sustenance. In addition, they consume flower nectar and pollen as snacks.
In addition to providing essential vitamins and minerals, figs contain fiber which can aid digestion. Furthermore, their phenolic compounds boast antioxidant properties.
Avoid fruits high in oxalates, as these can bind calcium and prevent proper absorption. These include bananas and many berries and fruits.
Pangea’s Fig Complete Diet or Repashy’s D3 & Calcium Complete Gecko Food with Insects) should be used instead of homemade fruit purees as these can often be unbalanced and difficult to achieve proper Ca:P levels without adding supplements. Feeding occasional insect treats can add enrichment and variety; however they should not be provided too frequently as too often feedings could cause obesity in crested geckos.
