Healthy dog treats are an easy and tasty way to show your furry pal how much you care, making an excellent holiday present! Simply place them in an attractive bag or box and tie it securely with ribbon!
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Combine all the ingredients until well mixed in a large mixing bowl; use either a food processor or blender if necessary to turn your oats into flour. On a lightly floured surface, knead your dough into an even ball shape before rolling it out to 1/4-inch thickness using cookie cutters (Damn Delicious used cute bone shaped ones!). Cut 36 treats from this ball of dough before arranging on baking sheets
*Be careful to use only 100% peanut butter, as many sugar-free and reduced-sugar varieties contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs. It is wise to check the label carefully for such ingredients as well as sweeteners that contain it.

Combine pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs and baking powder in a mixing bowl until well combined using either a hand mixer or whisk. Fold in oat flour and baking powder until combined; use your hands as needed to work in any extra flour needed for consistency. This dough may become quite sticky as it sits.
Transfer dough to a floured surface and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut desired shapes (I used my Bone Cookie Cutter Set as inspiration). Bake on parchment paper-lined baking sheets for 20-25 minutes depending on cookie size – allow cookies to cool completely before serving! Refrigerate or freezer storage will prolong their freshness!
Storage
Peanut butter can be hazardous for dogs when eaten in large quantities, as it can block their airways and even choke them. Furthermore, its high caloric intake could prove unhealthy.
Just like us, dogs require a balanced diet. Making your own dog treats is an effective way to provide your pup with nutritious treats at a reduced cost than purchasing commercial versions; plus homemade ones may use healthier ingredients than commercial offerings!
