Approximately 85% of Amul’s membership is made up of small and marginal farmers. Dairy farming is a tough business for the new generation. In rural India, this business is particularly challenging, as it involves hard work and is highly competitive. However, Amul’s price-raising announcement is aimed at giving farmers a fair shot. The company is planning to raise prices for its products by as much as 2 rupees per litre in New Delhi and NCR markets next week.

Ranjka and jowar fodder

The farmers of Kutch are facing salinity ingress from the Sagar River. Therefore, they rely on raising cattle and selling their milk for income. To meet the needs of their livestock, they depend on farm level fodder production. In this regard, CGPL (Tata Power) has been providing NB 21 green grass to the farmers of Kutch. This feedstock is cheaper to cultivate, and it produces higher yields per acre. It also contains more fat, protein, and digestive nutrition than conventional fodders.

FYTO

If the FYTO tata cattle feed is as effective as its company claims, then it has a promising future. Its plant-based feed product is a highly digestible alternative to soy, which is used in cattle feed. This feed product is formulated to replace about thirty to forty percent of the current diet of dairy cows, while providing the cattle with essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Its technology is already being tested in California, where the company’s headquarters is based.

The company is also carbon-negative, owing to the use of cow manure as its main feedstock. Cow manure can be used as fertilizer and as feed, and it can also be converted into aquatic plants. Aquaculture is a great way to feed animals, as it can grow ten to twenty times faster than most other sources of protein. Another advantage to FYTO is that it is an alternative to synthetic fertilizers.

Tata Power

In India, Tata Power Ltd, India’s largest integrated power company, strives to promote clean, sustainable energy by improving local communities. One such initiative is a joint venture with ALC India called the Maval Dairy program. This program offers specialized training in dairy farming and also encourages youth to engage in dairy farming as a profitable enterprise. With this initiative, Tata Power aims to contribute to rural livelihoods and improve health conditions for local communities.

The Group’s diverse businesses include manufacturing salt, luxury sedans, and e-commerce. In addition, it is transforming its aviation business. In 2016, Tata Group acquired Air India Ltd from the government, sold its telecom division to Bharti Airtel, and recently announced the acquisition of Bhushan Steel, one of the top five steelmakers in the world. And on Tuesday, Tata Power will acquire a stake in Titan.
