Feeding

Leopard geckos are insectivorous creatures and require a diet rich in insects to thrive. Our nutritionally complete food features a natural blend of flavoring agents and small-size flies raised under lab conditions before they’re slowly dried to preserve vitamins and minerals for optimal vitamin and mineral absorption. Proudly made in America, this formula offers your pet a nutritionally complete insectivorous diet!

This food is ideal for feeding adult leopard geckos and/or mixes of adults and juveniles, and can be fed either dry or wet with water to enhance natural flavors and aromas for enhanced feeding. Wet feeding may also help maintain proper hydration for their lizard.

Leopard geckos need a varied diet that includes insects and some fresh fruits and vegetables daily to maintain optimal health. We suggest providing your leopard gecko with high quality substrate such as Zoo Med’s Eco Carpet or Vita-Sand as well as UVB lighting to your terrarium for this.

Dietary Supplements

Leopard geckos are insectivores, feeding on insects for their nutrition. Zoo Med Leopard Gecko Food features an organic blend of flavoring agents and laboratory-raised insects designed to meet their dietary requirements.

This high-protein diet for leopard geckos features natural flavoring agents and small-sized flies raised under laboratory conditions and then slowly dried to retain vitamins and minerals necessary for their wellbeing. You can add ReptiCalcium or ReptiVite supplements as necessary to provide your reptile with enough calcium and vitamins.

Pour this nutritious food into the food dish of your leopard gecko three to four times each week and moisten slightly to encourage feeding behavior. Placing flies near its food bowl may also encourage its consumption.

Bedding

Leopard geckos are insect-feeders. Pet owners should provide live, gut-loaded insects over freeze-dried ones to provide more nutrition and exercise to their geckos. Pet parents should place insects in a dish rather than leaving them on the habitat floor to reduce ingested substrate which may cause gastrointestinal impaction.

Leopard geckos require careful habitat upkeep in addition to providing them with nutritious diets, with substrates being spot-cleaned daily to remove soiled materials and food dishes from Zoo Med Eco Earth Expandable Substrate serving as a natural, safe, and healthy alternative to sand or pebbles in leopard gecko habitats; its expandability also makes it suitable for use as moist bedding in an enclosure, egg laying chamber or hide; plus mixing well with sand in digging environments for digging environments! Additionally they benefit from having UVB lighting provided by placing a 5.0 UVB Bulb in their basking areas for added basking space!

Housing

Leopard geckos thrive in dry environments and enjoy their sand-like habitats. Zoo Med’s ReptiSand creates a realistic terrarium experience and contains essential micro-nutrients for their wellbeing, making it easy to clean. Plus, it makes an excellent alternative to other substrates like coarse sand, bark or corncob bedding!

Leopard geckos, unlike many pet reptiles, are nocturnal animals who prefer low levels of UVB lighting in order to sleep during most of their waking hours. Therefore, their habitat temperature should drop down to about 70 degrees overnight so as to provide optimal conditions. It is therefore vitally important that an accurate thermometer be installed so as to monitor habitat temperatures properly.

The Leopard Gecko starter kit provides everything needed to start housing and caring for a new lizard, including a 10 gallon tank, an analog reptile thermometer and Combo ReptiRock food and water dish with low profile design and nonporous surfaces that prevent bacteria growth.
