Reduced Magnesium
While we often focus on providing our pets with essential vitamins, mineral intake is just as essential – particularly magnesium! Magnesium plays an essential role in any process requiring energy – muscle movement, heartbeat and even thought processes all rely on magnesium’s presence!
Magnesium not only balances other essential nutrients such as calcium, but it also supports protein production and healthy bone density, muscle function, and provides restful sleep for your pup!
Magnesium helps the body metabolize food and generate energy, and is essential in turning protein into muscle, as well as supporting nerve health and maintaining cardiovascular wellness. Plus, magnesium contributes to supporting immunity systems!
Relative Super Saturation (RSS) Methodology
Uroliths can be an intense source of irritation in the bladder and, in severe cases, may require medical intervention for treatment. Nutritional strategies designed to decrease stone formation include decreasing concentrations of ions that contribute to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis by diluting urine more and/or decreasing its relative supersaturation (RSS) index (which measures how saturated urine is with these ions).
An analogy could be drawn between sugar solutions that dissolve easily in water but then become saturated can clump together, much like how urine’s relative supersaturation with uric acid, oxalate, and magnesium contributes to the formation of uroliths.
To accomplish this goal, diets have been devised through RSS testing in order to decrease urine supersaturation relative to normal levels. This will encourage urine dilution and decrease risk for urolith formation. Only foods which pass RSS testing are eligible to carry the claim “Urine Saturation Reduced” on their labels.
Urinary Tract Support
Urinary Tract Support contains a blend of herbs designed to support urinary tract health. This formula may provide relief from symptoms related to bladder inflammation such as pain and burning sensation during urination as well as antimicrobial and detoxifying action. Optimally used short-term and in conjunction with lifestyle choices like drinking enough water, cutting down on sugar intake, caffeine consumption, alcohol use and processed foods (consult your physician first); up to five tablets taken four times a day are suggested.
