Crested geckos require moderate humidity levels; to provide the ideal environment, we advise using a thermometer/hygrometer in their cage and performing daily misting sessions.
Pangea Gecko Diet: Growth & Breeding formula has been specially created to meet the special dietary needs of reproductive crested geckos, with high concentrations of proteins and fat from insects.

Fig & Insects
Fig trees are famous for their mutualism with gall-inducing wasps. To accommodate their visits, figs create tunnels which accommodate wasp ovipositors, so that wasps can lay eggs inside before dropping their pollen upon visiting seeds of the fig and finally dying within it.
This fig formula is ideal for crested geckos, New Caledonian giant geckos (Rhacodactylus leachianus), gargoyle geckos, and other frugivorous geckos that benefit from high levels of insects and fruit. With higher insect content than any of our Pangea formulas while still containing minimal levels of antinutrients such as phytates and oxalates.
This formula utilizes nutrient-dense insects that are easy to digest using a low heat, no water method that does not involve either cooking or dehydrating them, to produce more consistent feeding response than other methods for gut loading feeder insects.
Watermelon
Pangea Growth & Breeding Formula was specifically created to meet the specific needs of reproductive crested geckos. Providing high levels of fat and protein from crickets and black soldier fly larvae which generate an enthusiastic feeding response; delicious blend of fruits; as well as high levels of calcium for breeding purposes, this formula was specifically crafted for them.
Since 2013 when we first introduced it, this diet has proven one of our most popular crested gecko diets. Ideal for gargoyle geckos (Rhacodactylus auriculatus), New Caledonian giant geckos (Rhacodactylus leachianus), mossy prehensile-tailed geckos (Mniarogekko chahoua), and day geckos.
This crested gecko diet contains low levels of Phytates, antinutrients that bind with minerals such as Calcium and Zinc to interfere with their absorption, such as cereal grains, seeds, nuts, vegetables and seed meals that contain high quantities. As such it helps prevent dehydration while encouraging healthy growth; additionally extra proteins have been added for better breeding results and strong body condition in adult geckos.
Papaya
Papaw (known in Australia and the US as Pawpaw) is an essential addition to the diets of frugivorous geckos, including frugivorous gecko species such as gecko. Papaya (Carica papaya) provides valuable dietary fiber, potassium and vitamin C – essential components to helping lower cholesterol, regulate blood pressure and protect against heart disease – along with many vitamins and minerals such as folate, vitamin A, niacin, thiamine biotin calcium etc.
Pangea’s Watermeon Mango formula first became available in 2011 and quickly became a favorite with crested geckos and other fruit eating reptiles. Featuring high levels of protein with reduced antinutrients, this food does not include seeds, nuts, seed meal or cereal grains found in lower quality gecko food sources; rather it uses all-natural USA dried fruits mixed with whey protein isolate to provide the delicious combination of fruits your crested gecko cannot resist! Specifically formulated to meet the requirements of reproductive crested geckos but can also be used with all life stages alike!
Banana
Banana fruits are an excellent source of potassium, Vitamin A, B6, C & E as well as providing dietary fiber and small amounts of resistant starch that feed good bacteria in your crested gecko’s gut.
As a rule, it is best to offer fruits in their pulpy state rather than as slices. Crested geckos typically struggle with digesting hard foods such as banana slices; therefore it would be much more appropriate to blend them together into soft and easily digestible meals.
Be wary that certain fruits, such as bananas, contain high concentrations of oxalic acid. Oxalic acid binds calcium molecules and prevents them from being processed properly, depriving your crested gecko of essential nutrition.
To help keep oxalic acid at bay, feed bananas only as treats once every week for your crested gecko and add phosphorus free calcium with D3 reptile supplement when providing real fruits if not using an specifically tailored gecko diet.
