Crested geckos can eat blueberries
Although the name may make you cringe, crested geckos can eat blueberries. Blueberries contain vitamin C, calcium, and fiber, and are very low in calories. You can feed your geckos blueberries as whole fruit, sliced into halves, or mashed into a thin smoothie. Mangoes, too, are great for your geckos. Mangoes are super-soft, low in calories, and rich in antioxidants.
Mealworms
Mealworms are a convenient and easy way to add a high-protein, calcium-rich supplement to a gecko’s diet. You can store mealworms in the fridge or at room temperature. Keeping them at room temperature is also recommended. Present mealworms in a deep-bottomed plate or reptile feeding dish. After thawing, a gecko will eat them.
Crickets
One of the best ways to provide your gecko with a nutritious diet is to include crickets as part of its daily diet. Crickets are among the easiest insects to gut load. By feeding crickets to your gecko, you are introducing an additional source of calcium and other nutrients to its diet. This method is more effective than adding supplements to your gecko’s diet, and it is the best way to feed your gecko crickets.
Locusts
A good way to provide a healthy diet for your pet is to mix fresh vegetation with commercial cricket foods. These foods are full of vitamins and minerals. Locusts can be deprived of water but will still drink from a Bug Gel bowl instead. The gel is soft and can be put inside the bottle cap. Locusts don’t like drinking from a glass dish, so a small blob is enough to keep them hydrated.
Caterpillars
Crickets are another option for your gecko’s diet. These little insects are rich in protein and are relatively easy to handle, but they do have a disadvantage – they can smell if you buy a large number of them. If you’re planning to feed your gecko a large number of crickets, don’t worry, a few dozen won’t make much of a mess.
Weevils
You can include weevils in your gecko’s diet if you want to give him a variety of different tastes. Weevils are small beetles that are found in dried beans. The larvae feed inside the beans until they pupate and emerge as adult beetles. These tiny beetles are a great food source for small geckos, chameleons, and other small invertebrates. Bean weevils are a great addition to your gecko’s diet because they are easy to culture.
Mice
Among the best foods for your pet gecko is pinky mice. They are the easiest to prepare and provide an excellent diet for your reptile. Pinky mice are small, pink rodents that are popular feeders for reptiles. A pinky mouse has the advantage of being very easy to digest and is a good option for breeding females. However, do not overfeed your gecko. Male geckos should be given pinky mice no more than twice a month.
