Goldfish are versatile marine animals that feed off both plant- and meat-based sources in the wild, making gel food the ideal way to provide essential nutrition without risking indigestion or clouding up their water environment.

Gel fish foods are densely-packed blocks that gradually dissolve over time, dispensing food into your tank for your goldfish to consume. They’re an effective way to avoid overfeeding and waste while you’re away.

Goldfish may get bored of eating the same diet every day. To add variety, mix in some boiled vegetables and fruits – green peas are an ideal choice, since their fiber-rich structure may help prevent swim bladder disorder. You could also feed them live foods such as daphnia or brine shrimps (available frozen at pet stores) which are both safe choices for goldfish to consume.

Strawberries

Goldfish must be fed balanced meals twice each day as their digestive systems cannot process all their food at once. Strawberries contain plenty of vitamin C and may make a tasty alternative to fish flakes for goldfish feedings.

Boiled cabbage contains many vital nutrients for their wellbeing, and should be fed two or three times each week in pellet-sized pieces to your goldfish. Radish leaves may also be fed, though make sure they are undamaged first! Green peas should be avoided as they contain too many carbohydrates that could harm their health.
