Are you searching for a healthier alternative to rawhide for your pup? Look no further than Earth Animal No-Hide! This digestible chew offers multiple sizes, flavors, and novel proteins.
No-Hide may not be safe to eat due to misleading science cited by those propagating its non-safety. A water test, for instance, cannot accurately depict protein or not protein within an item.

They’re a choking hazard
Rawhide chews can be difficult for dogs to digest, making them an immediate choking hazard and sometimes necessitating surgery to extract large pieces from being swallowed.
Rawhide production often uses cleaning products with toxic chemicals, making the chewy material potentially dangerous to dogs if swallowed. Luckily, there are many safe rawhide alternatives which provide entertainment while simultaneously improving dental health and providing a useful distraction from nervous or overstimulated dogs.
Waldo Kallenberger is a leather chemist who claims he used microscopy on No-Hides from No-Hide suppliers to “verify” whether they contained rawhide. However, this method of analysis isn’t recognized scientifically and his results were mostly guesswork since he never sent off his sample for formal testing of its rawhide content; plus his analysis produced no conclusive answers since rice DNA could also exist without necessarily corroboration of rawhide content.
They can be tainted with E-coli or salmonella
Rawhide chews may contaminate your pet’s mouth and digestive system, and pose a choking hazard, particularly for larger breed dogs with strong jaws that chew intensely. Chunks of rawhide can become lodged in their throat and lead to obstructions or even life-threatening medical emergencies that require emergency veterinary attention.
Rawhides may pose additional hazards when fed to dogs, such as E-coli and salmonella contamination. These bacteria typically exist in food that contains animal proteins like beef, chicken, pork, lamb, salmon or peanut butter and can lead to serious illness in pups as well as even their death.
Earth Animal has recently been sued over allegations that its chews do not contain rawhide, leading them to release third-party investigations and statements from leather chemists and experts to counter these accusations. Their statements show that any rawhide-like material used is actually made from plant materials instead of traditional rawhide split material commonly seen in dog “bone” chews.
They’re not made in the United States
No Hide is manufactured at an Earth Animal facility in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania using high-grade raw ingredients that are 100% digestible for dogs who enjoy chewing. Perfect for active pups!
Regulators visited the plant numerous times throughout 2017 and 2018 investigations, reviewing processes, records, invoices and raw materials. They inspected its laboratory where they learned Earth Animal used gelatin as binding agent while No Hide was not composed of rawhide.
Pennsylvania regulators conducted an investigation comparing No Hide samples and Chinese rawhide from Pony Express Foods, testing each under a microscope for similarities to rolled rawhide from China; their investigators discovered that when baked, No Hide increased its protein content by 373% while under an inspection microscope it appeared similar to its Chinese counterpart rolled rawhide; due to these similarities they were unable to determine that No-Hide wasn’t actually made from rawhide.
They’re a boredom reliever
Dogs love chewing, but traditional rawhide chews may lead to choking and digestive issues. No hide chews offer safer and more enjoyable chewing experiences while helping maintain healthy teeth and gums – plus, they come packed with yummy ingredients sure to get their tail wagging!
These chews are made with all-natural, healthy ingredients without preservatives or dyes – perfect for pets with sensitive stomachs! Plus, they’re better for the environment than rawhide bones! With different flavors and sizes to choose from, there’s sure to be the ideal one for your pet.
Some individuals have claimed that No-Hide does not contain rawhide; this assertion is unsubstantiated. Independent reports from laboratories like PennState laboratory and Illinois veterinary diagnostics laboratory demonstrate this claim is incorrect, with these labs’ reports showing these chews to contain real meat rather than rawhide. Furthermore, simply submerging No-Hide into water won’t reveal its composition – only whether or not its material is water soluble will reveal whether or not its constituent parts contain rawhide or not.
