Protein

Crested geckos in the wild consume insects and worms as sources of essential nutrition, so these treats should make up no more than 50% of their diet. Fat

Before feeding insects to crested geckos, dust them with calcium and vitamin D3 powder so that they remain properly hydrated. This step is especially important if providing feeder insects to female breeding geckos.
Although feeder insects aren’t essential to a crested gecko’s diet, they provide valuable protein, vitamins, and minerals that will support its development as a juvenile and fatten up thin adult geckos. Calcium
Calcium is one of the most essential nutrients for crested geckos, helping prevent Metabolic Bone Disease which can lead to bone deformities and other health issues. When provided in optimal levels, optimal calcium levels help avoid these problems altogether.
Crested geckos require a 2:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus in their diets, meaning they must consume plenty of fruits rich in calcium like papaya, figs, berries, and other high calcium fruits such as papaya. They should also receive insect and worm sources with high calcium concentration such as gut-loaded freeze dried crickets or mealworms as sources for calcium supplementation.

Vitamins
Crested geckos require vitamin D3 for proper calcium absorption and bone health. Crested geckos in the wild obtain this vitamin by being exposed to sunlight (which triggers its production), but in captivity UVB lighting may provide it as well.
Vitamin D3 can also be obtained via multivitamin supplements like ReptiCalcium or Pangea Fruit Mix; supplementing their diet accordingly should ensure safe results, and should only be done in moderation according to manufacturer recommendations; oversupplementation could pose health risks to crested geckos.
