Show Fitter’s Edge feed

The Purina Show Fitter’s Edge Cattle Feed is a complete, nutritional feed for cattle that are headed for the winner’s circle. This product is ideal for cattle under 900 pounds. It is designed to meet the nutritional needs of show cattle in order to promote optimum growth and development.

Show Fitter’s Edge is a palatable roughage that supports consistent intake and lowers body temperature during heat stress. It is a natural feed additive, produced from a proprietary multi-step fermentation process. This feed supplement contains a balanced mix of critical minerals and highly available fiber to help show cattle achieve their maximum growth potential.

Show cattle should be fed approximately 2.5 to three percent of their body weight, depending on the size and age of the animals. For growing show cattle, hay is recommended at a rate of one-third of the animal’s weight. Finishing period depends on frame, genetics, and management. A medicated feed is required if coccidiosis is present. This feed provides up to 22.7 mg of Decoquinate per 100 lb of bodyweight and should be administered for a minimum of 28 days during exposure to coccidiosis.

Show Fitter’s Edge for short-framed steers

Short-framed steers and cattle require a ration high in protein and energy. Honor Show Chow (r) Fitter’s Edge is a growth ration for steers and cattle. It can be fed up to show day and is 14 percent protein.

When scoring frame height, Beef Improvement Federation recommends hip measurements. These can be taken using a hip height measuring stick. These measuring sticks feature a sliding arm with a bubble level attached to the end of a pole scaled in height increments. The sliding arm is held vertically alongside the animal’s hip, level over the hook bones, and the measurement should be taken from the pole attachment.

Show Fitter’s Edge for shorter-framed heifers

Short-framed heifers and steers require a high protein and energy ration. Show Fitter’s Edge is a high protein, high energy ration for growing cattle. Moderate-framed steers can be fed until show day on this feed. It contains 14 percent protein.
