Insect Meal

Repashy powder provides geckos with an excellent source of proteins, fats, fiber and calcium – essential components in providing them with a well-rounded diet. Repashy products should be offered alongside live insects to ensure optimal nutrition.

Meal replacement powders should be mixed with water before giving to your gecko in a shallow dish or feeding ledge, removing unused portions as soon as possible to avoid spoilage.

Crested geckos are omnivorous animals and should be offered both prepared diets and live insects to stimulate them. Pangea, Repashy, and Zoo Med offer complete CGD formulas which should be fed 3-4 times each week while crickets, dubia roaches, or superworms should be offered once or twice every week as stimulating treats.

Feeder insects aren’t necessary for crested gecko survival, but they provide entertainment and exercise, speed up juvenile development, and may help thin adults gain weight more rapidly. Offer insects once every week for optimal results – adjust frequency according to each gecko’s appetite, size and overall health status.

Whey Protein

Whey protein is an offcut of cheese production that’s used in various products like shakes, meal replacement powders and protein bars. Additionally, it may also be fed to fruit-loving gecko species at up to 25% of their diet at once (unless instructed otherwise by your vet).

Honey is a complete source of protein, providing all essential amino acids. Additionally, its rapid digestibility makes it ideal for people leading active lifestyles who wish to increase their protein consumption without taking on additional calories.

There are various varieties of whey available for purchase, including concentrate and isolate varieties. Grande Bravo functional whey protein can help make life easier when feeding geckos or other species via paste or smoothie form – it features zero clumping or viscosity breakdown under shear, making feeding much simpler! Plus it contains several beneficial proteins such as b-lactoglobulins and immunoglobulins!

Egg Protein

Crested geckos are omnivorous animals in their natural environments and consume an array of fruits, vegetables, flowers, nectar, pollen and insects as food sources. When kept as pets in captivity it is crucial that an optimal diet be provided that closely matches its wild counterpart as much as possible.

Egg protein offers superior amino acid profile and higher Protein Efficiency Ratio than either whey or casein proteins, plus essential amino acids that your body cannot synthesize itself.

Whole eggs and their hydrolysate score highly on many protein evaluation methods, such as Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS), Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER), and Net Protein Utilization Rate (NPU). Furthermore, egg white proteins like Ovotransferrin and Ovomucin contain functionally important peptides with antimicrobial and anticancer activity that make these an ideal source of nutrition.

Calcium

Geckos, like any animal that feeds on fruits and insects, require calcium in their food. Unfortunately, leopard geckos cannot lick away mineral deposits like they would naturally in the wild and therefore must instead receive supplementation through powder containing calcium and D3.

Repashy’s Calcium Plus powder can make an excellent meal supplement for crested geckoes, providing essential vitamins and minerals as well as eyelid dusting needs. But be careful as it may cling to their eyes if handling is required with this product!

Of course, for optimal care of crested gecko diets such as Pangea or Repashy are the ideal foods, since these come complete with correct Ca:P ratios as well as added vitamins, minerals and protein supplements. If feeding feeder insects to leos instead, be sure to gut-load them first and dust them with Repashy SuperVite powder prior to feeding them to avoid digestive upset and leo feeder insect problems.
