Trifexis

Trifexis is a chewable monthly tablet designed to kill fleas, prevent heartworm disease and control intestinal parasites. Its active ingredients include Spinosad and Milbemycin Oxime. Spinosad comes from naturally occurring soil bacteria which disrupt flea nerve transmission systems to kill them within 30 minutes after being administered; Milbemycin Oxime is a macrocyclic lactone which disrupts nerve transmission among hookworms, roundworms and whipworms thus killing them off as well.

Trifexis works by being absorbed through your dog’s skin and into his or her bloodstream, where its active ingredients take effect quickly. Fleas begin dying within 30 minutes of dosing, with continued flea kill throughout the month. Furthermore, Trifexis has also been shown to reduce signs of flea allergy dermatitis in pets including itching, chewing and fur loss. Chewable tablets make taking Trifexis easy for dogs without needing water or preparation; for optimal results give it at the same time every month! For best results take one or more doses at exactly the same time each month for maximum effectiveness!

Seresto

Seresto is an easy-to-use collar designed to kill and repel fleas, ticks and lice for up to eight months at once. Safe for small dogs and puppies as well as cats alike, its sustained release technology delivers active ingredients continuously – keeping your pet protected even when not at its usual spot.

These collars utilize natural insecticidal substances found in plants and animals for effective pest control. Imidacloprid and flumethrin are two of these naturally-occurring chemicals; veterinarians, farmers and sanitation workers know them well for treating fleas and ticks that transmit deadly diseases like bubonic plague, tularemia, typhus or tapeworms.

However, the EPA has reviewed incident reports about this collar and identified potential issues including itching, hair loss, minor skin reactions and eye/nose/throat irritation due to exposure to its active ingredients.

Simparica TRIO

Simparica TRIO offers the ideal solution for small dog flea control, providing safe and effective protection from fleas, ticks and intestinal worms all with one monthly dosage. Plus it helps prevent deadly heartworm disease! The product can be purchased from veterinarian offices as well as online retailers such as Zoetis.

It’s an easy-to-administer chewable with liver-flavored flavoring. Most dogs tolerate it without experiencing adverse side effects; however, signs of irritation or sensitivity could include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, increased thirstiness or itching.

Simparica TRIO contains three ingredients — sarolaner, moxidectin and pyrantel — to effectively combat flea infestation. Sarolaner disrupts flea lifecycle to kill adult fleas while repelling future ones for up to 35 days; while its moxidectin component treats and controls roundworm and hookworm infections while its pyrantel kills flea tapeworms. However, this product requires a valid prescription from your veterinarian and should only be administered cautiously in dogs with histories of seizures or breeding or pregnancy prior.

Advantix II

K9 Advantix II is a monthly topical liquid designed to repel and kill ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, biting flies and chewing lice on dogs. Easy to apply even on fidgety pets, it starts working within 12 hours and veterinarian-recommended! In addition, this veterinarian-recommended product kills flea eggs larvae pupae which come into contact with your pup to protect against tapeworms, Lyme disease ehrlichia or Rocky Mountain Spotted fever being transmitted.

It works by employing two powerful ingredients. Imidacloprid is an ectoparasiticide that attacks fleas’ central nervous systems, leading to paralysis and death; and Pyriproxyfen acts as an insect growth regulator, interfering with hormone transmission so immature insects cannot mature and reproduce.

This spot-on treatment for pets is waterproof, allowing your aquatic pal to take a swim or bath without losing potency. Before giving this medication to your pet, consult your veterinarian first as certain medical conditions and medications could interact negatively. It requires monthly treatments for maximum efficacy.
