Layers Pellets
Layers pellets are specially-formulated feed for egg-laying poultry that should be fed from 16 weeks through the laying period. Containing essential grains, proteins, vitamins, and minerals essential for optimal health during this stage, Layers Pellets come in either pelleted or crumble form for your convenience.
Layer feeds typically contain high levels of protein, making them suitable for keeping chickens but not ideal for growing flocks. Young and developing birds require specific levels of protein for healthy development; too much may result in health issues like small maturity weight or kidney damage.
At our facility, we offer both pelleted and crumble layer feed to give you and your flock the optimal choices available. While they differ only in texture, both forms of layer feed have high inclusion levels of natural pellet binders to keep their pellets intact during grinding – leading to greater pellet durability, reduced fines production, and overall improved feed quality.
Layers Mash
Layer chickens require high protein feed to support their natural health and produce quality eggs, and this 20kg Layers Mash has been carefully designed with a balanced selection of proteins, vitamins, and minerals designed to promote strong egg laying hens that produce delicious eggs.
Mash feeds can also come in pellet or crumble forms for delivery to chickens. A mash is a powdered form of chicken feed composed of ground grains, proteins and health supplements which is then moistened to create a thick liquid which the birds drink up.
People who favor mash feeds point out that laying hens can easily pick out individual ingredients in a mash mix, enabling them to gain more nutrition out of their diets. Furthermore, these cheaper feeds require no pelleting process prior to being broken into crumbles – this process adds substantial costs into the end product for the chicken keeper.
Broiler Pellets
Pellet feeding results in increased palatability and improved feed intake compared to mash feeding, as the chicken covers each pellet in mucus before digesting them. Pellet feeding also leads to decreased waste as chickens cover each pellet before swallowing it down their throats.
Pelleting involves conditioning raw materials and compressing them under heat and water pressure into dense pellets for use as feed, making them more palatable and allowing more ingredients than would be feasible through traditional mash feed production methods. Furthermore, pelleting typically yields higher feed conversion ratios (FCR).
Through pelleting, protein in feed is gelatinized to improve palatability and digestibility for the broiler chickens, thus decreasing energy requirements to chew and swallow pellets; ultimately increasing feed efficiency.
However, pellet quality should only be seen as one factor that contributes to feed performance. Other considerations, including density and abrasiveness factor of pellets should also be taken into account.
Broiler Mash
Mash is the go-to chicken food option. This mix combines various grains like corn (maize) and wheat with protein meal and health supplements for optimal feeding results, often used for chick feed but suitable for fully grown birds and bantams alike.
Mash is loose and unprocessed feed material often mixed with hot water to form porridge-like textures that your flock will devour. However, due to their soft consistency, mash varieties of chicken feed may result in more incidental waste than its more solid counterparts.
No matter the quality of mash feed you select, it is crucial that your broilers receive adequate nutritional content from it. Energy and protein should be prioritized; thus, selecting one with high energy levels and protein content to speed weight gain. Doing this will allow you to reach your goals faster while ensuring that their diet reaches maximum potential.
